Retelling and acting out stories is a terrific way to build comprehension! Today we had a great time acting out The Mitten by Jan Brett. In our re-enactment, we pretended that the table was the lost mitten. One by one, the animals all crawled inside, until the mouse tickled the bear's nose and made him sneeze!
The characters below are Baba and Nikki. Baba knitted Nikki some snowy white mittens, and he lost one in the snow.
After the bear sneezed, the animals were blown out of the mitten, and it flew up in the air. Nikki caught it!
What terrific performers we have in our classroom!
