All About Matter

Here are some pictures of our water balloons and water bags, before they froze outside, We had fun learning about what it really means if it's "freezing" outside! Water freezes at 32 degrees, so if it's 32 or lower outside, we can freeze water! THAT's freezing!

We put them on the picnic benches in the Outdoor Learning Area, right outside our back door!

We had to wait overnight for the balloons to freeze solid, But it was amazing to peel off the balloon and see the ice ball underneath!

Ta-Da! Ice sticks together well when it's all slippery from being passed around the classroom!

Here are some friends getting ready to let go of balloons. We know that the gas inside will WHOOSH right out! The balloon that is taped to a paper tube will shoot across the room in a straight line. But the other balloon will fly all over the place. We figured that out pretty quickly!

Here's the "ice man" we created...look at how fast he melted! Water changes from a solid back into a liquid pretty quickly, considering how much longer it took for the water to freeze!
