Here are the Peeps, outside the classroom door at 8:30, eager to come in and celebrate the 100th Day of School!
At 9:00, we had a 100th Day Fashion Show! The 100 Day shirts were TERRIFIC!!! The children were so proud!
After the fashion show, we invited all 61 full-day kindergarten friends into our classroom for a meal at Long School's newest restaurant, the 100 Day Cafe. The specialty there is pancakes! All of the children had to come in and find their seats...
After everyone got to eat pancakes, Mr. Schoenekase read The Wolf's Chicken Stew. In the story, a wolf tries to fatten up a chicken to make delicious chicken stew. So he makes her 100 pancakes, 100 cupcakes, 100 donuts, and a 100-pound cake. Little does the wolf know that he is actually feeding Mrs. Chicken's family of 100 chicks!
During our celebration day, we also made 100 Day crowns, and 100 Day necklaces. Our math lesson today was sorting Fruit Loops into 10 groups of 10. We counted by 10s to make 100, and then we put the 100 Fruit Loops on a necklace! It was a big fine-motor challenge to string the Fruit Loops, but we have terrific fine-motor skills!
Of course, sometimes we just had to eat a few...they were so yummy!
I doubt that the 100 Day necklaces will make it home for you to see them whole, so here are some pictures of our fabulous Peeps on the 100th Day of Kindergarten! (Well, actually it's the 99th day, since we had a snow day.)
Aren't they terrific?!?! I think so!!!
