On Veterans Day, we made a new friend! Mrs. Jamie Qualls visited our classroom. Mrs. Qualls is a student of Dr. Parker's, at Lindenwood. She will be observing/helping us for a total of 45 hours. She'll come see us again in December. We enjoyed working with her!
After learning all about the symbols of America during the week, the Peeps made a "Hooray for the USA" ribbon, showing the symbols. They had to first sort symbols and non-symbols, though. Each student had to decide if a pizza, bald eagle, balloon, Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, or other things, should go on the ribbon or not. I was proud of the terrific sorting! The boys and girls could definitely show me what was a symbol, and what was not! One friend even glued all of the non-symbols on the back of her ribbon--she didn't want to throw them away!
