Busy November Learning!

We've been learning all about the properties of two-dimensional shapes. We can describe them by how many sides and corners they have! We also know that another math word for "corners" is "vertices." We are so smart! It's not easy to build two-dimensional shapes with toothpicks and playdough! The Peeps had lots of fun building squares, triangles, and even hexagons and stars!

We love our "Let's Find Out" magazine every week. There's always an interactive game to play on our whiteboard. Here, we are using the pens to sort pictures by their beginning sound.

We have two new chairs in our cubby areas! The library was getting rid of these, and we decided to try them out! We had extra cubbies in the classroom, so it was easy to be sure that no one had a cubby near where the chairs are...so the chairs fit perfectly! During Reading Workshop, the Peeps can practice reading their books while they sit in the comfy new chairs!

When we were learning all about the symbols of America for Veterans Day, we decided to make a special project to help decorate the halls. Can you guess what symbol we're making on the hearts? It's a bald eagle!

During afternoon center time, we still love playing in our favorite centers. Look at this house these boys built for the three little pigs!

In our Finger Power center, we have a new favorite thing! We use lite-brite pegs to spell out our sight words, and to make pictures. It's tricky (but fun) to match the pegs to the color coded holes. You'll be seeing punched out lite-brite pages coming home. After the Peeps do these, they don't want to recycle them! They keep asking to take them home.

Even though Fire Safety week was in October, we still really like pretending to be firefighters. We don't want to put our firefighter gear back away!
