We have been practicing our scissor skills with our School Rules book during our Social Studies lessons, and we have terrific discussions about why we do things the way we do in school. The Peeps have even helped develop our class mission and vision statements! Our mission (what we do): to stay safe, to learn, and to have fun. Our vision (how we will do it): care, share, be nice, and be fair.
Here are a few literacy stations in action. These friends are playing with the rhyming dust bunnies (characters from the book Rhyming Dust Bunnies by Jan Thomas). Each of the friends takes turns thinking of words that rhyme.
These friends were playing with our color word bean bags, and decided to write the color words down so that they could practice them!
Here are friends identifying letters in the book nook:
These next pictures are from one of our dance parties. (When we've been working hard, and need to get up and move around, we have a three-minute dance party.) Just look at these moves! We love to dance!
On Friday, we worked very hard on our frog puppets. We practiced our fine motor skills when coloring and cutting very carefully. Then we worked on number identification and counting when we fed our frogs some tasty flies! (Be sure to practice this game at home, too. We need to know numbers in a snap, and be able to count accurately. If your child is working on recognizing numbers to 10, you have cards to 10. If your child knows numbers to 10, you have cards to 20 and also number words.)
During our math mini lessons this week, we practiced identifying shapes, and sorting. Then the Peeps practiced working with the shapes to show what they could do!
I hope that you can see we're sticking to our mission: to stay safe, learn, and have fun!
